Hey all! I’m Claire, and snagging Nayu’s blog for a few
moments to review an exciting new YA mystery I’ve had the pleasure of reading for review purposes.
Flick
is so relatable. She comes across as a bright, sad, somewhat lonely girl who
relies on the unconditional love of her best friend, next doors German
Shepherd, Gus. She has moments every teenager ever can relate to. Embarrassing
parents, hiding things from parents, saying something 'stupid' in front of a
guy you're kind of crushing on.
And
yet there is so much depth here. Flick misses her sister. She wants to
understand what happened to her, why she died. And she desperately wants to be
an investigative reporter, something she knows her parents will hate. Parental
disappointment anyone? And throughout it all, is a strong, engaging story.
Relatable side characters, laughter, heartache and a twisting mystery. With
just a tiny hint of romance.
I
loved this book beginning to end and could not put it down! If you like
mystery, real characters, and canine companions, then this is a must read. And
if you only like one of those things, this is a must read!

hope you will give Flick a chance, and fall in love with her as I did.
